Ok now I've seen it all. When I used to live in Missouri there had to be at least 4 inches of snow on the ground before it was even a possibility that school would be canceled. I can even remember a couple of times when I was in school that nearly all the buses were late because of bad weather conditions, but we had school anyway. When I went to college... well lets just say that your door had to be snowed over for the campus to shut down (translated: no such thing as snow days).
I move to Memphis, TN and thing were... well... let just say that snow had a little more effect on things down there. If there was even a dusting of snow things were canceled. This to me was completely foreign. I mean I could sneeze and the streets would be clear yet they would call off school.
This has all been topped by today however. Yes today a school day was canceled with out there being any snow on the ground!!! Yes folks, school was canceled without snow on the ground. In fact it wasn't even snowing when the cancellations came in. School was canceled on the mere possibility of it snowing. Yes you read that right... THE MERE POSSIBILITY!!!! And when I say school I mean all schools, including the college campuses. Now as I'm sure you're all wondering at this point, "well did it actually snow??" the answer is NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Not a dusting, nor a flurry, hell not even even one freakin flake!!! Unless someone sprayed some water in the air and it froze before falling to the ground there was NO SNOW!!! So yes, here, the POSSIBILITY of snow can cancel schools. Good thing they didn't say there was a possibility of a blizzard, people might have just decided to board up their businesses.
